Shadi and AndreasWe will be in Puerto Vallarta from Sunday, April 15th, until Tuesday, April 24th.
For some pictures of us you can either click on RegistryTo share the day with us is the best gift of all and the only gift we need. However, by popular request we have finally registered with Crate & Barrel, Williams Sonoma, and Macy's. You can view these registries through each store's website or all of them through weddingchannel.com. DocumentsYou need a valid passport. Everyone needs a passport. For all you people with new born babies. They need passports too. Hurry, go get passports. When you enter Mexico you are given a tourist card, which you must return when you leave. Do not loose the tourist card. If you lose the card, you will need to go to the Mexican Immigration office at Marina Park to obtain another. You will need proof of how you entered the country-such as a plane ticket-and ID-driver's license, passport, birth certificate etc. Regarding VISAs. I don't think anyone will need to obtain a visa to travel to Mexico. Please do not take our word for it and double check this yourself. Airport InformationThe airport code for Puerto Vallarta is PVR. The airport is located 10 minutes north from Los Tules.
Hotel InformationLos Tules, an old coconut plantation turned into a resort, will be our head quarters. Our hope is our guests will choose to stay at Los Tules so we can all spend time together. However, there are plenty of other hotels in Puerto Vallarta you can choose from. We chose Los Tules for the following reasons:
You will find all the information you need about Los Tules here. This includes the rates and policies which apply to the Amundin-Zokaei wedding guests. Childcare for the Wedding DayWe are considering arranging for childcare at Los Tules for the day of the wedding. We ask guests with children to let us know whether they would be interested in taking a night off from parenthood ;-) Based on the level of interest we will make arrangements. Please send us an email at atozwedding@amundin.com Billboard PicturesClick on the thumbnails to view the pictures Tourist OfficeFrom the US or Europe call +52 (322) 222-0242. In the US the Mexico Tourist office can be also be reached on the following toll free number +1 (800) 446-3942. Currency, Banks, and Credit Cards
Mexican Nuevo Peso (MXN) is the currency. At the time of writing in
February 2006 the exchange rate is about
1 USD ~ 11 MXN
1 EUR ~ 14 MXN
1 SVK ~ 1.6 MXN
The best exchange rate is from your bank/credit card using ATMs with CIRUS, PLUS or INTERACT affiliation, which are located in the airport, on nearly every street corner and at banks throughout the city. Keep in mind each bank charges their own fees for using international ATMs and conversion fees. It is best if you check with your bank or credit card institution ahead of time so you don't get any surprises when you get home. Credit cards are widely accepted. TimePuerto Vallarta is in the time zone UTC-06. This makes it two hours ahead of California, one hour behind New York, seven hours behind Sweden. The northern half of the bay is in the neighboring state of Nayarit, which is one hour behind Puerto Vallarta. This was done entirely to spite you :-) |

ActivitiesThere are lots of activities you can do in and around Puerto Vallarta. Here are some
For more information about the scheduled activities click here. WeatherPuerto Vallarta is on the same parallel as Hawaii, thus shares the same tropical weather patterns. During the winter months daily temperatures are between 78-85F/25-28C, cooling to around 70F/21C at night. DressThe dress code for the wedding will be "Beach Chique" or "Formal Tropical" or "No shoes, no shirt, no wedding" or ... Ok, if you don't know what this mean, that's ok neither do we. Linens and silk appropriate for warm weather makes sense. Please no shorts, no flip-flops, and no Tuxedos. The general dress code in Puerto Vallarta is very casual. Shorts and T-shirts are the order of the day. At night, men can be seen in casual slacks at the more upscale restaurants and events, ladies in light summer-type dresses. Sun hats and cover-ups are a good idea, and don't forget the sun block. Banderas Bay MapClick on the map to view a larger version. Car RentalRenting a Car is a great idea! The roads in and around PVR are in good shape, and there is much to see and do in the surrounding area. All major rental car companies have branches at the PVR airport. The prices end up being about the same as in the US once taxes and mandatory insurance fees are taken into consideration. Keep in mind the rules of the road are a little different from the US and Europe. Always pay attention to traffic around you. Do not expect anyone to follow the rules you would expect. Rules are more like suggestions. Lastly, if you plan on staying at Los Tules then you do not need to rent a car. Los Tules is a 10 minute cab ride from the airport and a 5 minute cab ride from downtown. You only need a car if you want to explore the surroundings outside of Puerto Vallarta. TaxisTaxis are safe and abundant fares are set, with the average fare around $40 pesos or $3.60 USD. Fares are posted in each taxi. Asking how much it will cost before you get in may save you a few pesos and avoid misunderstandings. FoodThere are over 250 varied restaurants in Puerto Vallarta and large grocery stores such as Comercial Mexicana and Walmart in Marina Vallarta. Two of the best restaurants in Puerto Vallarta are Cafe des Artistes and Trio. As we found out by pure happenstance one of the chef/owners at Trio is Swedish, Ulf Henriksson. In addition to these two restaurants there are lots of other really good restaurants and you will just have to find out for yourself. WaterWhile the water in Puerto Vallarta is some of the best in Mexico and is tested regularly, it is wiser to stick with bottled water. Most restaurants, bars and hotels use purified water, just be sure ask. TelephonesThe country code in mexico is +52. The area code for Puerto Vallarta is (322). To call Puerto Vallarta from the U.S.A., dial 011 52 (322) then the local number. To call a cell phone number in Puerto Vallarta, from the US or Europe, you need to insert a 1 between the country code and the area code. Instead of dialing +52 (322) as you would for a land line you need to dial +52 1 (322). For dialing from Mexico on a private phone line, dial 00 + country code + area code + number. Rates are higher in Mexico for long distance than in many other countries. If you need to make a lot of calls while in Mexico consider getting a calling card. Electricity110 Volt and 60 Herz current, the same as the U.S.A. and Canada. If you have a three-prong plug bring an adapter for two-prongs. |
